Day 25

As I look at my life I feel it is so much about fear.  Was I good enough?  I think I was always afraid that someone would detect the unworthiness.  So glad I have found a new path.

Root Day 22

Solitude
This can be very intense. I used to be afraid to be alone. I now spend a lot of time by myself — sometimes I wonder if I spend too much time alone. It has been very healing for me. It has been an important part of discovering who I am and what I want.
Day 21

Remember who you are -- it is easy to forget or be unduly influenced by the opinions of others.

Day 17

I spent time clearing a space to work on my pages.  I have my a place for my journaling supplies and table space to work.  It brought me so much joy.  I grabbed one of my favorite dies and cut a bird from my painted paper and competed the Day 17 exercise.  So happy!

Day 16

I caught up with some of my journal pages yesterday and caught up with my scanning today.  Some days I enjoy the process more that others.  I also enjoy the journaling but I don't always feel comfortable with collaging or putting pages together.  I spent time yesterday looking out into the woods in my backyard that is framed by my studio windows.  It's funny because I don't draw but I have taken a tip from Lisa and just did it anyway.  I was pleased with myself for taking the leap.  I don't always feel like journaling every day and I am exploring the reasons for that: I need to organize an area with paint, pens, papers and images. I also need to let go of fear and just go with what I am feeling that day.

Day 15

I have learned to meditate and while I am in meditation I often see an eagle or soar like one.  The eagle for me represents courage and a longing for freedom.

Day 14

Kelly Kilmer taught me how to layer paint on background pages.  It was one of the post heavenly experiences of my life.  I need to get my paints out and use them more often. I am so grateful for the rich experiences of the last decade of my life.
Day 13

Happiness is..............................................
Day 12

I love visiting Martha's Vineyard.  It is so serene and restful.  These colors are MVY colors,  With kids in college I haven't been there in a long time.  I do miss it.  Every summer I would buy a hand painted needlepoint ornament canvas and stitch it with Persian wool .  On rainy days I would sit in the rocking chair on the screened porch and stitch like a madwoman. So restful.
Day 11

I didn't want to add an image to this page.  One day years ago I was playing with my art supplies and painted several pages.  I am not even sure what I did to this page.  Most likely I had taken a technique class with Bernie Berlin. The page had plenty of chaos going on and it felt like an explosion of stars. I have chaos in me when I create and I make a mess.  It seems to be an important part of my process.

Day 10

I started this page in a class with Kelly Kilmer.  I was so self conscious about it and it never got used.  One of the joys of this project is that I am using the book I made so long ago and completing the pages.  And I have so many wonderful memories of watching Breakfast at Tiffany's with my father. My hope for this project is that I journal often and remember to stay present and enjoy my life.
Day 9

It is funny that on this day I tried to do too much and my page became on hot mess.  I just wrote over it and laughed with the page of the right sank in the middle.  I glued an old ATC card over it.  I love my Claudia Rose rubber stamps.  They are so happy.

ROOT Day 8

When I was looking for a collage picture, I immediately thought of Mother Mary.  This was the first item I came to in the exact same color as my page with a channeled message that mirrored by mood.  Amazing.

ROOT Day 7

No matter our age...we can still feel that small child within.
ROOT Day 5 & 6

Life happens and I missed a day.  I didn't let it throw me or give up I just got up early the next day and started working.  I printed out both days and when I was done I realized I had mixed my pages together.  Each one has a little bit of the other.  I love the lyrics to If you want to sing out, sing out.  I first heard it when I was in college and it resonated with me then as much as it does now.  I can't draw so I followed Lisa's advice and tried to draw a picture I liked.  I have never done that before.  I really enjoy contemplating the daily inspirations.

ROOT Day 4

I was tired and I just wasn't feeling it.  I started randomly gluing paper to the page.  In the past I would have completely fretted about it and not finished.  I just rolled with it and ended up just relaxing and playing.  I though the quote was particularly appropriate and meaningful. I just did it..

Day 3 ROOT Journal Project

I feel good that I am meeting my goals.  I struggle with the collage but not the journalling.

Root Day 2 Committment

I am excited for the opportunity to commit to journaling every day.  I worry that I am taking too much time to do it but I then have to remind myself that this too is part of the process.

Thursday, January 2, 2014

I am so happy to start a new project
ROOT:  A 30 day journal project.

This is my first journal page.
